Nathan is recovering well!!

We have been home for about 5 days now and he is doing great! Every day we see a huge improvement and he is playing and enjoying his time home with his parents and brother!

We had a cardiologist appointment a couple days ago and his heart is working great and he has no fluids.. He is still on some medicines, but that should stop in the next couple months..

Thanks for all your support and well wishes!!

Tubes, Lines, Needles are all out

All of the Chest tubes, IV's, and other invasive lines are now out. He is walking much more and he is eating a lot.. Still some fluid in the lungs, so we are just waiting for him to dry up from the liquid in his lungs..

Walked down the hall..

We had big progress... With all the lines and tube attached and all the monitors rolling behind him, Nathan walked up and down the hallway of the ICU.. He was so happy that he was able to do it.. Even though he was in pain, he was motivated by the fact that he got out of his room..

He is now resting....

He is out of the OR and is resting..

Nathan came out of the operating room and is stable.. A bit mad, but he did well with the procedure. They took out 3 chest tubes and added 1 more. The lung that was not draining has now drained and so things are progressing.

Nathan's Lungs are not draining - He is going back to the Operating Room

Nathan's right lung has fluid and it is not draining through the chest tubes.. He will be taken back to the operating room to put in another tube to drain his lungs..

Day 2 Progress..

On the first full day from Surgery, Nathan was coming out of Anesthesia.. All was progressing well until we had a scare.. Nathan started staring into space without reacting, moving or having any reaction. Even pain was not felt at all.. We all got very scared, but he slowly came out of it within 10-15 minutes.. Later he had slurred and soft speech... Eventually he fully came out of the episode..

They did some brain test (EEG) and we consulted with a neurologist and everyone feels it is the anesthetic wearing off.

The next day (today), Nathan was able to situp and even take a few steps.. He has a lot of tubes and lines in his body, so walking reallly is not possible yet, but he at least tried..

He also had 20-30 minute intervals where he was joking with us..

So, we believe Nathan is on his way to a full recovery and we will update everyone soon.

Thanks for all your emails and support!
